Villa Cristina Farm House

Villa Cristina Farm House was founded in the territory of the enchanting nature reserve of Ciane river, only 4km from the town of Syracuse and a few steps from the most beautiful beaches and cultural sites in eastern Sicily (Arenella, Ognina, Fontane Bianche, Plemmirio). This farmhouse is located along Mammaiabica canal, which runs parallel to Ciane river almost up to its mouth, which is part of the reserve that also includes the wide area of the Salines. This is one of the oldest worship areas in Sicily (almost certainly connected to the nearby Olympeion) and is linked to the myth of Persephone: Ciane nymph, in fact, was turned into a river for having attempted to prevent Hades from kidnapping this goddess. Ciane is navigable with row boats against the current leaving from its mouth in Porto Grande, which is the same as Anapo river and Mammaiabica canal. Along the banks of Ciane, papyrus (Papyrus Ciperus) probably imported by the Arabs thrive together with citruses, which are the beautiful and fragrant frame of Villa Christina farmhouse.
